Life in Japan

Inside the Edo Beauty Lab Self-Care Sunday Box

Several years ago, I made it my motto to “self-care through skincare,” no matter what life throws my way. And, every Sunday, I make it my priority to wash and detangle my hair, take a bath, and give my skin some much needed TLC. (My 5 step self-care Sunday routine also encourages plenty of mommy-daughter bonding time, as well!)

As the founder of the Japanese green beauty start-up, Edo Beauty Lab, I’ve been able to encourage others to take the time for themselves, too. I decided to combine my love for self-care Sunday and beauty boxes to produce my very own #selfcareSunday beauty box.

Take a look inside the Edo Beauty Lab Self-Care Sunday Box, a monthly subscription wellness and self-care beauty box from Japan.

Despite the launch date of April 1, this ain’t no joke!

Starting a beauty-based Japanese subscription service is something I’ve always wanted to try, ever since the rebranding of this blog. With 2023 being a year of big changes for me, I’ve finally decided to manifest it on my own.

Each month, subscribers will receive 5 to 7 beauty, wellness, and self-care products from Japan worth over ¥7,500 yen.

The items in the Edo Beauty Lab Self-Care Sunday Box vary month-to-month, and include a mix of bath products, skincare, candles, teas, snacks, and even interior goods. What’s more, products are sourced from small local businesses whenever possible.

The very first Edo Beauty Lab Self-Care Sunday Box is titled, “Hopeful and Healing,” and is inspired by a recent visit to Yasukuni Shrine.

I curated the “Hopeful and Healing” self-care box to encourage others to create their own self-care routine, starting with a gentle exfoliating clay mask.

Skincare Tip: It’s a good idea to rinse off your clay mask once it begins to dry.
Edo Beauty Lab Komatsuna Print Tenugui, cotton drawstring bag, and Green Radiance Clay Mask, made in Edogawa City, Tokyo.

In addition to Edo Beauty Lab’s signature superfood Green Radiance Clay Mask, the “Hopeful and Healing” box also comes with a Eucalyptus Cinnamon Aroma Candle to enhance your mood.

The Eucalyptus Cinnamon Aroma Candle is handmade exclusively for Edo Beauty Lab by a local artisan.
The matcha-scented Green Radiance Clay Mask pairs well with the Eucalyptus Cinnamon Aroma Candle.

There’s also blended herbal chai from the French brand, Janat, and a ceramic mug so you can get in some much needed “me time tea time.”

Let’s Take A Break— I fell in love with this mug on a shopping trip and knew I had to add it to the “Hopeful and Healing” box.
Use this ceramic mug for coffee, mocha, latte, tea…whatever suits your fancy!
